Junkers Ju 188 |
The Ju 188 E with enlarged wings and straight tail unit, improved canopy
and more powerful engines was a direct development of the Ju 88 E and was
in use from Sommer 1942 in the night bomber units of the Luftwaffe. With
it's imporved bombload of 3.000 kg and improved armament this version was
a very effective bomber and deadly enemy. The versions D,F and H were for
reconnaissance purposes and in the year 1944 the versions A, E, G, and S
were spread over the Luftwaffe as bombers. The version G was able to load 3.300 kg bombs and the not armed S with a special injection reached a maximum speed of 686 km/h, comparable with the fastest version of a Mosquito.
